Lessons from Utah

Thursday, I took Ethan and Katie to Utah. My cousin, Alison, had her Junior Recital at the University of Utah and I hadn't heard her sing since 2000. The music was absolutely wonderful, delightful, -AMAZING! I haven't gone to an event like that in a long time. It was a real treat!

The rest of the time, we spent playing with cousins. Here are Ten things I learned this trip:

#10. Maddie will get up at 5am to get her hair done by her mom. That is dedication to being beautiful!

#9. Linzie is a great babysitter and uses all tricks of the trade - balloons, balls, and Elmo to keep Katie entertained :).

#8. Morgan (age 8) is a crafty young lady with a lot of talent and a giving heart. Thanks for the Faith sign, Morgan - it is beautiful!

#7. Chance and Ethan can play together for 15 hours straight without fighting (too much).

#6. Taylor can make some funny faces. She's a real ham!

#5. Utah will not accept other state's valid drivers permits. Jacey has to wait another 6 months to get her license! :( But she still went with me to the recital!


#4: Little, pretty snowflakes can accumulate a lot faster than I can get two kids ready and out the door. The Utah driving was bad, but once I made it to the mountain pass, the weather cleared up, thank goodness.

#3: Greg would be a very neat, tidy, clean, productive, and well-fed bachelor. Which begs the question - what does he keeps me around for? He got these shelves finished while I was gone and completed the chair rail in the living room.

#2: Baxter doesn't smoosh my cushions out of spite. Apparently, pugs are related to mountain goats. This is buddy, our cousins' pug, and a fellow cushion smoosher.

#1: My cousin Alison was blessed with a AWESOME singing voice, is an amazing performer and beautiful young woman!
