THE WORK
Grandpa Max power washed our deck. We didn't realize how bad it was until was could see the difference. Greg and Max started to stain it, but the work was cut short by, you guessed it, RAIN. So, we'll have to get back to it another time. While Max washed, Greg finished putting in the last of my garden boxes and moving most of the compost out of the driveway. Meanwhile, Pat was inside tearing down THE DRAGON (see pictures) in the guest room. My apologies to future visitors who will never behold the dragon in its glory :). I was the lazy one of the bunch mainly vacumming, cleaning, and running interference with Katie.
THE FUN
We had a great time showing them the area, going to dinner, and just visiting. Monday was the "excursion" day. We went up to the tulip festival and although the tulip fields were done blooming we still saw some pretty flowers in the garden. Then, we headed through Deception Pass for a picnic lunch seaside. After discovering the ocean's treasures, we went to a Fort and Ethan had the time of his life running up and down and climbing up and down the ladders. Katie thought it was pretty cool, too. We toured a nearby lighthouse as well. To end the day, we drove the length of the island and headed back to the mainland on a ferry where we were welcomed home by a working lighthouse. It was wonderful. Thanks, Max and Pat, Dad and Mom, Grandma and Grandpa for coming to visit. We had a great time!
